CPD

Bespoke CPD is about training designed specifically for you or your team. It enables you to be best prepared for the caseload that you see, gaining experience in the areas of equine medicine most relevant to you.

Practical CPD enables new skills to be developed and for teams to optimise the use of their equipment. Small group or one to one discussions guarantee the opportunity to work through case challenges and to ensure that all questions are answered. In addition to one-time sessions, contribution to professional development journeys and return to work support are also on hand.

Being in house, a number of team members can be present at once, in a way that is typically not feasible otherwise. In house CPD is highly cost and time effective, with no time spent away from the practice and no team travel costs or overnight stays.

Example applications of bespoke CPD:

Practical abdominal or pulmonary ultrasonography training for individuals or teams. These techniques enable us to better understand a variety of cases. This facilitates a more targeted approach, often reducing the costs of care, improving the prognosis and giving us the confidence to avoid unnecessary antibiotic use. Sessions usually start with an interactive introduction, followed by one- to- one or group guided practice. Following initial training in-field support is encouraged, helping you to build confidence in the application of these skills.

•  Talks and case discussions around topics of your choice, for example: handling medical emergencies, foal care in the field, decision making in respiratory cases, responsible antimicrobial use, investigating and managing diarrhoea or improving outcomes in dermatological cases. This type of training is designed to support you in your delivery of excellent service and to feel at more at ease managing your equine medical challenges.

Regular remote or in person sessions for new graduates, those transitioning into equine practice or those wishing to progress in the field. Such sessions will increase the breadth of cases that you feel confident with. This can boost job satisfaction, reduce case stress and support management of the practice caseload. In addition to benefits for attendee themselves, this can also lighten the case pressure on more experienced team members.

Contribution to intern training programs. Practices can enhance their internship offering and intern experience through provision of focused tutorials and practical training.

The above are just some examples.
